Be Live Experience Hamaca Suites occupies a curious position in the Dominican Republic all-inclusive market: 65 beautifully renovated suites nested inside a sprawling 670-room mega-complex in Boca Chica, a beach town just 30 minutes east of Santo Domingo. The Suites section delivers a genuinely higher finish — Travertine floors, bold design, upscale bathrooms — that sits in stark contrast to the broader Hamaca complex surrounding it. For travelers who book Suites specifically and calibrate expectations accordingly, the gap between photos and reality is narrower than for guests who expect the whole property to match the premium tier.

The strongest selling point is access to Boca Chica beach itself — a reef-protected, shallow, extraordinarily calm stretch of Caribbean coastline that is genuinely among the best swimming beaches in the Dominican Republic. Five pools including a large beachfront infinity pool, multiple restaurant options across the complex (Italian with wood-fired pizza, Brazilian, Mexican, and more), and one of the most competitive all-inclusive price points on any Caribbean beachfront round out the case for value-oriented travelers. The consistent negatives are difficult to overlook: Wi-Fi is nearly non-existent, maintenance issues including mold and cleanliness problems appear in reviews across multiple years, and the budget-resort character of the surrounding complex is always visible.

Be Live Hamaca Suites is best suited for travelers who prioritize beach quality and affordability over resort polish, particularly those based in or visiting Santo Domingo who want to combine the capital's cultural depth with a proper Caribbean beach stay. Compared to Punta Cana's all-inclusives, this property trades luxury finish for proximity to a world-class city and one of the country's most protected beaches. It is not the right choice for guests with high expectations around Wi-Fi, consistent service, or resort-wide maintenance standards — but for beach-first, value-conscious travelers who can absorb those tradeoffs, the combination of Boca Chica's calm water and the Suites' renovated rooms represents genuine value.

Pros

  • +The Suites section consists of 65 beautifully renovated rooms with Travertine floors, bold color accents, and upscale bathrooms — a genuinely higher finish than the rest of the sprawling Hamaca complex
  • +Located in Boca Chica, one of the Dominican Republic's most accessible beach destinations — just 30 minutes from Santo Domingo's Las Américas International Airport, making it ideal for short getaways or add-on stays
  • +Access to a large beachfront infinity pool and five pools total across the Hamaca complex, giving guests meaningful variety in poolside environments within a single all-inclusive rate
  • +The Boca Chica beach itself — calm, protected by an offshore reef, and shallow — is widely considered one of the most swimmable and family-friendly beaches in the Dominican Republic
  • +Diverse dining options across the complex include a buffet, Italian (Portobello with wood-fired pizza), Mexican (Orale), Brazilian churrascaria (Rodizio), and a gourmet fish and meat restaurant, all accessible to Suites guests
  • +All-inclusive rate is among the most affordable available on a Caribbean beachfront, making it accessible to budget-conscious travelers who want a proper beach holiday without Punta Cana pricing
  • +Private beach area designated for Suites guests provides a more exclusive feel within the larger resort complex, separating Suites visitors from the higher-volume main resort traffic
  • +Proximity to Santo Domingo makes combining a city cultural visit with a beach stay very practical — guests can easily day-trip to the Colonial Zone, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and be back at the beach by evening

Cons

  • Wi-Fi is essentially unavailable in rooms and extremely limited across the property — a major frustration for modern travelers, with some reports of the resort charging additional fees for even basic connectivity
  • Cleanliness and maintenance issues have been raised consistently across multiple review periods, including mold in some rooms, dirty floors, and general upkeep that lags behind what the renovated Suites photos suggest
  • The overall Hamaca complex is enormous and the Suites feel like a small premium section bolted onto a budget resort — common area quality and service levels in shared spaces reflect the main resort rather than the Suites tier
  • Dining outside the buffet has been inconsistently executed — some guests report excellent specialty restaurant meals while others describe mediocre food quality across the board, with no predictable standard
  • Boca Chica town surrounding the resort is a lively, sometimes chaotic beach town that generates vendor pressure and street activity directly outside the resort — guests who want a fully insulated resort bubble may find the surroundings intrusive
  • The beach, while genuinely beautiful and calm, is shared with the broader public and can feel crowded, especially on weekends when Santo Domingo residents visit — the private beach designation for Suites has limits on peak days
  • Vacation club salespeople have been called out by guests as aggressive, with persistent upsell pitches that can feel intrusive during what should be a relaxing stay
  • Service consistency across the complex is uneven — guests in the Suites report better individual service than the main resort, but staff training and English-language communication gaps affect the overall experience
