Water Island ferry to Honeymoon Beach

Ten minutes across Charlotte Amalie harbour on a small passenger ferry. It leaves Crown Bay Marina, from the slip in front of Tickles Dockside, roughly every hour every day of the year, and lands at Phillips Landing on Water Island. No booking is needed: buy tickets at the ferry's shop under the marina office or from the crew, and arrive a few minutes early.

Water Island is residential, with a couple of hundred people and nothing much in the way of shops, so bring what you need. Golf carts can be rented at the landing. Honeymoon Beach, in Druif Bay on the west end, was a rocky strip until the 1950s, when the stones were trucked away, sand pumped in and rows of palms planted behind it. Also on the island are the gun emplacements and tunnels of Fort Segarra, an underground fort the US Army started in the Second World War and never finished.
