Johnny Cay boat trip
Day trip · San Andrés, Colombia

Reggae and the red, gold and green of the Rastafari flag set the tone on Johnny Cay, a palm-covered islet about 1.5 km off San Andrés's north shore and, at roughly five hectares, the largest of the cays around the island. Speedboats from the town marinas reach it in about 15 minutes. A walk right round the islet is easy. Bahía Sardina is the main beach, and coral forms natural pools along parts of the shore. Lunch is fried mojarra with plantain from the beach kitchens, washed down with a cocoloco. It is a regional park, so there is an entry fee, paid in cash on arrival, on top of the boat.
