The beach decides this. Guests call Unico's one of the smallest they've seen, those who've done both say Excellence's wide, sheltered sand is far nicer, and one Unico loyalist switched for it alone. Unico's answer is better food and cocktails by most accounts, in newer rooms. Excellence's site lists nine restaurants to Unico's five, and nothing needs a reservation except the teppanyaki tables, while Unico wants dinners booked ahead and goes quiet after dark. Excellence also runs cheaper, includes airport transfers on direct suite stays of three nights or more, and skips the sales pitch. Beach people and anyone staying five nights or longer go Excellence; foodies on a short trip who want design-hotel rooms go Unico.
