Catamaran trip to Cayo Blanco

This is Varadero's standard boat day. A coach collects you at the hotel, a big catamaran leaves from a marina on the peninsula, and it sails for a couple of hours out to Cayo Blanco, a small uninhabited cay with a white sand beach. There is a reef stop with snorkelling gear, then about an hour and a half on the cay to swim, try the non-motorised water sports or lie on the sand. Lunch is served on the island with live Cuban music (lobster in season, otherwise fish, shrimp or chicken), and rum cocktails are poured on the beach and the boat alike.

Some versions finish with the dolphin show at Varadero's dolphinarium on the way back. It is about eight hours door to door.
