The reports since the handover are more specific than for most Cuban hotels, because a Cuban guest published a detailed one in August 2026: the hotel was in very good condition for the situation the country is in, with hot water around the clock, a clean bathroom, a spacious room with a fridge, safe, Wi-Fi and terrace. Another August guest noted the hotel was not full, with the whole third floor closed for renovation and some pool cabanas being rebuilt. By late September and October guests were praising a varied buffet of good quality, excellent cleanliness, the Yane restaurant's staff and the evening shows, and one singled out the Level service. Set that against the island: no card from any country has worked since June, the grid collapsed nationwide eight times this year, and the kitchen buys from the same state supply system as everyone else.

This is the resort for travelers who want Cuba on purpose, have read up on the logistics, are not American, and can get there, which with every Canadian airline suspended until further notice means through Europe, Mexico or Panama rather than a package from Toronto. It is calmer than Cancún and cheaper than Royal Hicacos or Internacional de Varadero up the strip, and the Level upgrade is still the difference between a good stay and a frustrating one. Plan the Havana day trip; Varadero is a hotel strip, and the country is somewhere else.
