This suits value minded families and divers who want Dominican character rather than a Punta Cana megaplex, and it is the cheapest of the three big Dominicus properties, sitting below Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus next door and well below Dreams Dominicus La Romana. The adults only Catalonia Royal La Romana shares the site and its guests use these facilities, so expect a mixed crowd at some venues. For days out, the boat to Saona and its sandbar natural pool is the classic, Catalina is quieter and better for snorkelling, Bayahibe village has the dive shops and the fishing harbour within a five minute walk, and the Altos de Chavón artisans' village above the Chavón river at Casa de Campo makes an easy half day. Santo Domingo's colonial zone is about an hour and a half by car.
