Common complaints
- −This is among the most expensive stays in the Caribbean. Room rates carry 20 percent VAT, service charge and resort fees and a tourism levy on top, and the all-inclusive plan is extra again
- −The all-inclusive plan is an add-on rather than part of the rate: US$230 per person per day for 2026 and US$235 for 2027. A small number of dishes, such as premium cuts and lobster, still carry surcharges
- −Breakfast and dinner are compulsory over Christmas and New Year (20 December to 2 January), and the extra-person charge nearly doubles in that window
- −The open fourth wall means there is no air conditioning in almost every unit, and nights in summer and early autumn can feel warm. Only one Sky suite, on the north-east corner, has windows and air conditioning, and it has to be requested when you book
- −The five Sky suites, usually the cheapest way in, have a raised couples' whirlpool tub but no private pool, which catches out guests who booked for the infinity pool

- +Three-wall suites: the entire western side of every room is open to the Pitons and the Caribbean, and guests who have stayed say the view is better in person than in the photos that circulate in every honeymoon forum
- +All 37 suites and villas have a heated private plunge pool aimed at the Pitons, so the room itself is the main event rather than a fallback for rainy afternoons
- +Fully renovated and reopened in November 2025: every suite was redone with new fabrics, colors and furniture carved by local artisans, new pathways were laid, and electric Mini Mokes now shuttle guests around the ridge
- +Dasheene's farm-to-table cooking is the real thing. Most of the herbs, fruit and vegetables come from gardens on the resort's own 17 acres, Chef Nigel Mitchell buys the rest from farmers and fishermen he knows personally, and the Wine Room runs tasting menus from more than 170 labels
- +The new leve Wellness & Spa is 25,000 square feet, with a warm volcanic-mineral pool fed from Soufriere's springs, dry and infrared saunas, a steam room, a proper fitness center and yoga and Pilates classes
Common complaints
- −Only two of the 37 suites have air conditioning (Villa La Fleur and La Petite Fleur, which have glass doors that close). Everywhere else you rely on the ridge breeze and ceiling fans, and on hot, still nights in late summer some guests struggle to sleep
- −Insects come with open walls. The resort drapes beds in nets, lights coils at dinner and sprays discreetly, but a single light left on after dark invites everything in, and nearly every past guest says to bring strong repellent from home
- −Not a beach resort. The complimentary shuttle runs Monday to Saturday (10am, noon and 2pm) to Malgretoute Beach, a small local beach where loungers and umbrellas cost extra; there is no shuttle on Sundays, and a day at Sugar Beach means a taxi plus their day-guest chair fee
- −Steep terrain. The Mini Mokes help, but there are still a lot of stairs between the suites, Dasheene, the pool terrace and the spa, and guests with knee or mobility problems find the layout hard work
- −Price. Rates average around $1,250 a night with breakfast and transfers, lead-in suites start near $800 in low season, and the top villas run well past $2,000; meal plans are extra at $103 (dinner), $157 (all meals) or $250 (meals and drinks) per person per day

The Verdict
Jade Mountain is the grander statement: every sanctuary has its own private infinity pool, the architecture is one of a kind, and its Anse Chastanet sister property below adds two beaches and a dive shop. Ladera answers with the arguably better view (it is the only hotel inside the Pitons World Heritage site), a warmer and more intimate feel, and, since its November 2025 renovation, a 25,000-square-foot spa and six dining venues that close most of the old amenities gap, all at a meaningfully lower price. Neither puts a beach at your door; both are about the room and the view. Once-in-a-lifetime maximalists book Jade Mountain; travelers who want 90% of the magic for well under the price book Ladera.
