- +24 of the 29 sanctuaries have their own private infinity pool, 450 to 900 sq ft depending on category, set into a room whose fourth wall is simply open to the Pitons and the Caribbean. No photo really captures it

Common complaints
- −This is among the most expensive stays in the Caribbean. Room rates carry 20 percent VAT, service charge and resort fees and a tourism levy on top, and the all-inclusive plan is extra again
- −The all-inclusive plan is an add-on rather than part of the rate: US$230 per person per day for 2026 and US$235 for 2027. A small number of dishes, such as premium cuts and lobster, still carry surcharges
- −Breakfast and dinner are compulsory over Christmas and New Year (20 December to 2 January), and the extra-person charge nearly doubles in that window
- −The open fourth wall means there is no air conditioning in almost every unit, and nights in summer and early autumn can feel warm. Only one Sky suite, on the north-east corner, has windows and air conditioning, and it has to be requested when you book
- −The five Sky suites, usually the cheapest way in, have a raised couples' whirlpool tub but no private pool, which catches out guests who booked for the infinity pool

- −It is not an all-inclusive: meals add up quickly unless you take the Food For Thought package, which covers daily meals and select drinks, and in-room dining carries an $18 delivery charge per order
- −A mandatory resort fee of $40 per adult and $20 per child (ages 6-17) per day, plus tax, sits on top of already very high room rates, and the resort says it rises slightly for 2027 stays
- −The Soufriere location is remote: Hewanorra airport is about 45 minutes away by car and Castries about 1 hour 20 minutes, so day trips north take commitment
- −The beach is beautiful but small by Caribbean standards, and at peak occupancy it can feel cozy rather than expansive
- −Anse des Pitons is a public beach under St. Lucian law, so boat visitors can land, which may take the edge off the feeling of total seclusion

Sugar Beach owns what Jade Mountain fundamentally lacks: a genuinely great white-sand beach between the Pitons, plus superior food and the famous Rainforest Spa treehouse treatments. Jade Mountain owns the room — private infinity-pool sanctuaries with no fourth wall — and offers a true all-inclusive option and adults-only seclusion that family-friendly Sugar Beach doesn't. Beach-and-dining honeymooners (or families) choose Sugar Beach; couples for whom the room is the destination choose Jade Mountain.
