Jade Mountain Resort occupies a category of its own in the Caribbean luxury space. There are just 29 sanctuaries, each with a 15-foot ceiling and a fourth wall that is simply absent, replaced by a sweep of jungle, Piton and Caribbean Sea that changes with the hour and the weather. Twenty-four of them have a private infinity pool; the five Sky suites have a raised whirlpool tub for two instead. Travelers who have stayed at dozens of luxury properties describe it as genuinely unlike anything else, and with so few rooms the service ratio is exceptional. The resort sits on the 600-acre Anse Chastanet estate near Soufriere, still owned by the architect who designed it, and children under 16 are not accepted.

- −The open fourth wall means there is no air conditioning in almost every unit, and nights in summer and early autumn can feel warm. Only one Sky suite, on the north-east corner, has windows and air conditioning, and it has to be requested when you book

Meal plans are optional and sold separately: breakfast and dinner at US$135 per person per day, or all-inclusive at US$230 per person per day for 2026 (US$235 for 2027). The beach, non-motorized water sports, tennis, guided walks and yoga are complimentary, and the PADI 5-star dive centre is on Anse Chastanet beach a short walk or shuttle away. Sanctuaries are open-air, so expect ceiling fans and breeze rather than air conditioning.
This resort is for couples who want the most romantic, private and visually dramatic stay the Caribbean can offer, and who have the budget for it. It is emphatically not for travelers after a party, a big pool or a social resort. Taxes, fees and the meal plan push the real nightly cost well above the headline rate, which makes it a splurge-of-a-lifetime trip for most guests, but the share of travelers who come back and call it the best hotel stay of their lives is unusually high. For a honeymoon, a big anniversary or a bucket-list trip to Saint Lucia, it is the benchmark the island's other luxury resorts get measured against.
