Ferry to Isla Mujeres

The cheap, scheduled way across. Ultramar's boats from Puerto Juárez, just north of downtown, leave every half hour and take about twenty minutes, from early morning until late at night. Boats also leave from the hotel zone at Playa Tortugas, Playa Caracol and El Embarcadero, with fewer sailings and a slightly longer ride. An open return ticket lets you come back whenever you like.

The ferry drops you at the edge of town. Playa Norte is a short walk, and golf carts for the rest of the seven-kilometre island are rented right by the pier. Taxis go down to Punta Sur. Anyone bringing a car needs the separate car ferry from Punta Sam.
