That makes this a sensible base for budget-conscious families and low-key travelers who intend to get out and see things rather than sit on a lounger all week. It is the wrong pick for party groups, who should look at Riu Cancun or Grand Oasis in the mid-strip, and the wrong pick for anyone who wants modern rooms or serious dining. Families with a bit more to spend get far more resort for the money at the Barcelo Maya complex down in the Riviera Maya, under the same parent brand.
