Pajuçara natural pools by jangada

From Pajuçara beach, in the middle of Maceió, jangadas sail about 20 minutes out to a sandbank and reef pools roughly a kilometre offshore, where you can sit in the shallows or put a mask on and look for fish among the coral. Other jangadas anchor out there as floating kitchens, cooking and selling food and drinks, with the city waterfront in view behind you. The water is calm and shallow, so it works for small children. Pick a jangadeiro on the beach yourself, and go only at low tide.
