Parque Consotá

Run by Comfamiliar Risaralda, the regional family welfare fund, Consotá is Pereira's big day-out park, on the road to Cerritos about ten minutes from Pereira airport. It is a long way from Quimbaya, so think of it as a day of its own.

Water takes up much of it: a wave pool, twin pools, children's pools, slides and a lazy river. Away from the pools are a chiva bus ride, two walking trails on indigenous memory and on the region's myths and legends, the Granja de Noé farm with its animals, sports grounds and typical-food restaurants. A show on old Pereira runs on weekends. The park closes on Mondays (Tuesday when Monday is a holiday). No outside food, drinks or pets. Members of the fund pay less than outside visitors, and there are cabins and a hotel for those who stay over.
