Parque del Café

Krater drops riders 30 metres on what the park bills as Colombia's most extreme roller coaster, Avix hangs them upside down on the country's first inverted one, and Yippe is shaped as a tribute to the Willys jeeps that carried the coffee harvest. They are three of four coasters at the park the coffee growers built near Montenegro, which opened in 1995 as a museum and grew a fairground when children said they would not come back. Rapids, a log flume, a 38-metre tower ride, a steam train with live folk music and plenty of smaller rides fill the valley.

The coffee side is still there by the main entrance. A museum explains growing and processing, a sensory room teaches you to taste a cup, and the Coffee Show puts about 30 dancers, singers and acrobats on stage. A self-guided trail runs down through shaded coffee plantations to the rides, or you can ride one of the two gondolas or the chairlift.

The full pass is for anyone from 125 cm, a junior pass covers children from 90 to 124 cm, and smaller ones go in free. Buy online by the day before for a discount. Entry closes at 2 in the afternoon, and some rides are shut for maintenance at any given time.
