Ocean Coral & Turquesa

Ocean Coral & Turquesa is a large family all-inclusive at Puerto Morelos, run by Ocean Signature Resorts under the H10 Hotels family, and it is in the middle of the biggest change in its history. The hotel closed on 30 August 2026 and reopens on 19 November 2026, at which point it also adopts a new name: Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun. The August 2026 announcement describes work on the arrival experience, the lobby, the culinary offering and the modernization of the rooms, with the Privilege section completely reimagined. The operator, Tripadvisor, Expedia and Air Canada Vacations have already switched to the new name, so for the next few months a traveler will see both names attached to the same property.

What is not changing is the location, which has always been the strongest thing here. Puerto Morelos Reef National Park lies directly offshore as part of the second-largest barrier reef in the world, so snorkeling is a walk down the beach rather than a boat excursion, and the Dive It! centre handles the organised dives. The airport is under 25 minutes away, which beats almost anything further down the Riviera Maya. The facility list runs wider than most resorts at this price: three swimming pools plus the Privilege pool, a children's water park and jacuzzi, ten themed a la carte restaurants and six bars, the Despacio Spa Centre, a 24-hour gym, tennis and multi-sports courts, a bowling alley and two theaters, one of them outdoors. Daisy Club handles the children with its own water park and arcade.

The important thing to understand before booking is what happened to El Beso. On 1 May 2026 the El Beso Adults Only section became the Privilege area, and the announcement is explicit that the new section is open to adults and families. Privilege is a premium service tier rather than an age-restricted enclave: exclusive suites with robes and slippers, priority restaurant access, a reserved pool and beach with ocean-view Balinese beds, and the Privilege Lounge. The only spaces the resort labels adults-only are the Privilege and Blue Moon restaurants. So this works well for families who want reef snorkeling and a short transfer, and for couples willing to pay for Privilege comfort, but it no longer works as a child-free resort. Guests who want that in this corridor should look at a dedicated adults-only property instead. The complaints that dominated reviews before the closure, air conditioning failures, roof leaks in the older blocks and all-day chair hoarding, all describe the pre-renovation hotel, and whether the refurbishment fixes them will not be clear until well after 19 November 2026.
