La Romana International is 19 km away, about 20 minutes, and Punta Cana is 72 km, closer to an hour and a quarter. For days out, boats leave Bayahibe for Saona Island and its shallow sandbar natural pool, Catalina Island is nearer and the better snorkelling, the dive shops and fishing harbour of Bayahibe village are a short taxi ride, Altos de Chavón at Casa de Campo makes a half day, and Santo Domingo's colonial zone is about an hour and a half by car.
