Zel Punta Cana, All Suites - All inclusive
Zel Punta Cana is the Caribbean debut of Zel, the lifestyle brand Melia Hotels International and Rafael Nadal built together as a 50-50 partnership and launched in Mallorca and Costa Brava before this one. It soft-launched in December 2024 and held its official grand opening in March 2025 with Nadal and Melia chief executive Gabriel Escarrer Jaume on site. The tagline is Born in the Med, and the execution follows: 190 suites in three-storey buildings set in gardens of tall palms and bougainvillea, decor in white, cream and blue with wood, leather, macrame, rattan and stone, and low-slung patio mediterraneo seating areas scattered around for sitting with a coffee. It sits inside the Melia hotel complex on Playa Bavaro, half an hour from Punta Cana International Airport, and the whole place is capped at roughly 500 guests. It is not adults-only, though it reads that way: children 2 to 12 are welcome, two per suite, with no kids club and nothing programmed for them.

- −The resort is not on the beach. Zel Beach Club sits off-site on Playa Bavaro, reached by a shuttle that runs sunrise to sunset, roughly a five to ten minute ride or a 15 to 20 minute walk. The loungers, DJs and the Neguri bar and restaurant are all out there, which also means there is no beach in the evening
- −Four restaurants on the grounds means about three a la carte dinners to rotate: Volcan for fire-grilled meat and fish, Nokyo for Japanese teppanyaki and sushi, and Tacorini for its Greek and Mexican mix, with the Parda buffet covering all three meals. That gets thin past five or six nights
- −It is not adults-only, but it is not set up for children either. Children aged 2 to 12 are accepted, up to two per suite, and there is no kids club and no children's programming at all, so families whose kids need organised activity are a poor fit in both directions
- −A long list of things carry a surcharge: the AUA Spa and its treatments, the Silvestre wine and martini bar, tennis courts, golf at Cocotal, motorised watersports, scuba, the day club, the salon and laundry. Non-motorised watersports and pickleball are included

The practical shape of a stay is sport, spa and space rather than scale. Every unit is a suite with a living and dining room, two closets and a whirlpool tub on the terrace, a minibar restocked daily and an espresso machine, and the swim-up categories open onto lagoon pools between the buildings. Two main pools anchor the grounds. The AUA Spa runs a hydrotherapy circuit of hot and cold pools with sauna, steam and a siesta room, and the Studios handle trainers and classes from aerial yoga to HIIT. The standout is across the road: a 15-court Rafa Nadal Tennis Center that opened in 2026 with five tennis, six pickleball and four padel courts, performance-tracking technology and coaches taking both adults and juniors. Dining is four venues on property, the Parda open-air buffet beside the main pool for all three meals plus Volcan, Nokyo and Tacorini for dinner, with the Silvestre wine cellar and the Voltaje nightclub for drinks, Cafe de Finca for coffee and Neguri out at the beach club. The one thing to understand before booking is that the beach is not here. Zel Beach Club is a shuttle ride away on Playa Bavaro and it shuts at sunset.
This suits active couples and groups of friends who would rather hit a court, a class and a hydrotherapy circuit than a buffet marathon, and who do not mind that the sand takes a shuttle. Rates are far more modest than an all-suite Nadal-branded resort sounds: the nightly average runs in the high $300s, October is the cheapest month near $312 and March the dearest near $517, which is ordinary Bavaro money rather than a luxury premium. Tour-operator all-inclusive packages typically fold in round-trip airport transfers, so check what yours covers before booking a private transfer. Golf is nearby at Cocotal Golf & Country Club, the Fun Republic amusement park is a short trip and free to enter, and guests can use the neighbouring Melia properties through the Stay at 1, Play at 2 exchange, which is where the casino, slides and kids facilities actually are. For a honeymoon or a five-to-seven night active escape it lands well. For a ten-day stay, or for a family that needs a beach at the door and a kids club, look elsewhere in Bavaro.
