Deep-sea fishing charter

Charters go out from Marina Cap Cana, the big marina at the southern end of the Punta Cana coast, and hundreds of sportfishing boats work from its docks each year. Billfish are the draw: blue and white marlin, sailfish and spearfish, all fished catch and release. Tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi and red snapper make up the rest of the catch.

What bites depends on the month. White marlin run from March to July and peak in May and June. Blue marlin show from May to October, best in July. Sailfish take over from August to November, and wahoo and tuna fill the late autumn and early winter. The marina also hosts fishing tournaments through the season, and charters are booked through it.
