Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes is the answer to a specific question: what if a world-class golf resort was also a genuinely great family beach resort? The Greg Norman-designed links course is legitimately one of the top golf experiences in Mexico — ocean views, dramatic dune terrain, and pot bunkers that make it a proper challenge — and the fact that it sits alongside a waterpark, saltwater lagoon, and kids club makes the resort unusual in the market. The 1.2-mile Pacific beach is visually stunning and gives the resort a grandeur that competitors lack. Whale watching from the pool deck in winter months is a specific detail guests mention repeatedly as an unexpected bonus.

The service quality is one of the most consistent points of praise in guest feedback. Pool staff and concierge teams are named in reviews — a sign of the kind of attentive, personalized service that drives repeat visits. Multiple travelers describe coming back annually for the combination of warm weather, reliable service, and the golf. The four pools, six jacuzzis, and waterpark infrastructure mean there is genuinely always something to do regardless of what the Pacific Ocean is doing (which, at this location, is usually too rough for actual swimming). The dining earns solid marks without being transcendent, and the spa quality is high but priced to remind you it is not included.

This property is the right pick for families where at least one adult golfs seriously, or for golf-obsessed couples who want beach luxury alongside their rounds. It competes directly with One&Only Palmilla and Chileno Bay for affluent families, though it wins decisively on golf and waterpark versus losing on pure refinement. Budget travelers will find the math tight — to get full value, you need to be using the golf, spa, and all included amenities consistently. First-time Cabo visitors who want to be walking distance to the marina or nightlife will find the remote location an inconvenience, but those who want a resort that is complete on its own terms will find Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes one of the best-rounded properties on the Baja Peninsula.

Pros

  • +18-hole links-style golf course designed by Greg Norman sits right on the property — par-72, ocean-view, windswept dunes course that is considered among the best in all of Los Cabos
  • +1.2 miles of private Pacific Ocean beach with dramatic wave scenery — one of the longest private beach stretches at any Cabo resort
  • +Waterpark with slides and a Tarzan rope swing plus a saltwater lagoon give kids genuine all-day entertainment without leaving the property
  • +Four pools plus six jacuzzis spread across the grounds mean there is almost always an uncrowded option regardless of peak season traffic
  • +Whale watching from the beach or pool deck is possible December through April without booking a tour — humpbacks pass close to shore
  • +Kids Club with indoor and outdoor areas and outdoor movie nights makes this one of the strongest family-friendly luxury options in the Cabo corridor
  • +Hiking access from the property into the surrounding dunes and desert terrain is a unique outdoor option most Cabo beach resorts cannot offer
  • +Staff service quality — particularly pool and concierge teams — receives consistent high praise, with guests naming specific team members in reviews and returning year after year

Cons

  • Pacific Ocean surf at this location has strong currents and powerful waves — the beach is spectacular to look at but not suitable for ocean swimming
  • Ongoing construction on or near the property has been a complaint in recent reviews, with noise affecting some guests' relaxation experience
  • Remote location north of Cabo San Lucas means a 25-30 minute drive to downtown nightlife, restaurants, and the marina — excursions require planning and taxi budget
  • All-inclusive rates are on the premium end of Cabo pricing, making the value case reliant on heavy use of golf, spa, and dining amenities
  • The adults-only pool area is a smaller and less spectacular amenity compared to the main family pool complex — adults who want to avoid children need to claim space intentionally
  • Spa treatments are an additional charge on top of the all-inclusive rate, and the spa menu pricing is high even by luxury resort standards
  • The Greg Norman golf course, while excellent, is a links course exposed to Baja winds that can be punishing for high-handicap golfers on windy days
  • Swim-up bar and waterpark are more oriented toward families than couples seeking a quiet retreat, which can affect atmosphere during school holiday periods

Situated 25 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas, this Resort is very secluded and very private. It has well over 2 mi of beach all to itself with absolutely nothing else around. That sort of seclusion is fantastic if all you want is a quiet getaway...
