Barceló Bávaro Beach - All Inclusive Adults Only
Barceló Bávaro Beach is the adults-only half of the Barceló Bávaro complex, which was rebuilt as two hotels in a $330 million, two-year project and reopened in December 2011 with the Beach side converted to adults only. It now runs 589 rooms, 80 percent of them directly facing the beach, with a 47 sq m Superior Room as the base category and Superior Swim Up, sea view and ocean front suites sold under Premium Level. The draw is the combination: a quiet adults-only base with a semi-Olympic adults pool, backed by the full Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort behind it, meaning the 24-hour Casino Bávaro, the 1,400-seat Grand Teatro Bávaro, a bowling alley, two nightclubs, an escape room, a shopping centre and The Lakes golf course designed by P.B. Dye.

The trade-off is that the Beach hotel is small on its own dining. Three restaurants, Caribe buffet, Chez Gourmet and La Brisa for Mediterranean, plus the Mamey, Bohío Chill Out and La Piña bars, and that is it without crossing to the Palace. Palace pools, the wave pool and Pirates Island are open to Beach guests, but the a la carte system is where the tiers bite: Premium Level includes all a la carte restaurants with unlimited reservations through the stay, while everyone else gets a fixed allowance based on how many nights they booked, and select Palace restaurants add a surcharge. Guests in 2026 rate the staff highest, the food good, the drinks average, and the rooms as starting to show their age with walk-in showers the most common request. Wine is a paid extra at some venues and not every restaurant serves mixed drinks, which catches people out. U-Spa is 18 and over and costs extra, the gym is well equipped, non-motorized water sports and snorkeling gear are included, and motorized sports are for purchase.
This suits couples and adult friend groups who want adults-only Punta Cana without Excellence or Secrets money, and who will actually use the Palace side rather than treating the Beach hotel as the whole resort. Rates run roughly $280 to $450 a night depending on season and booking site, which places it clearly under Excellence El Carmen and Secrets Royal Beach and above the budget Bavaro properties. Excellence El Carmen wins on service polish, room quality and food; this wins on value and on sheer breadth of things to do once you count the complex. Book Premium Level if dining matters to you, because the reservation allowance is the single biggest difference in the experience. Nearby, Bavaro's main beach strip and the Palma Real and San Juan shopping centres are short taxi rides, and Isla Saona, Hoyo Azul and catamaran trips are the standard excursions sold at the desk.
