Above that sit the Privileged categories, which are a paid service tier rather than an adults-only enclave: Privileged buys 24-hour room service, breakfast lunch and dinner at the beachfront BLoved a la carte, an exclusive stretch of beach with snack and drink service, turndown and beach towel service, a tenth off the Alegria Spa and shops, an hour in the spa wet areas once per stay, and early check-in or late checkout when available. Only the two Privileged Romance categories are adults-only, and those add a couples massage, a romantic dinner, special room decoration and a welcome amenity on stays over four nights. Dining is broader than most resorts at this price, with El Pajarito doing all three meals and a wood-fired pizza oven, and Adelita, Steakville, Ayami and Mamma Mia opening for dinner only behind a dress code that rules out shorts and sleeveless shirts for men.

The setting is mangrove jungle off the federal highway about 30 minutes from Cancun airport, which means a quiet, wildlife-rich property and absolutely nothing within walking distance, so plan on taxis, tours or a rental car for Chichen Itza, Coba, Tulum and the Cozumel ferry. Families get the best of the pricing, with children under seven free, seven to eleven year olds at half the adult rate and a 47.7 square meter family room at the same price as a standard Premium Deluxe, though no category takes an extra bed. Two practical notes: this coast gets sargassum from roughly May through October, with November to March the dependable window, and the Environmental Sanitation Fee is not in the rate and is collected at the hotel per guest per night.
