Travelers who want quiet, polished service or genuinely good food should look at Fiesta Americana Condesa or Hard Rock Hotel Cancun and pay the difference. Guests who book knowing it is a busy, slightly worn, high-energy resort tend to leave happy, and the ones who expected a boutique experience do not. Cancun is also a good base for day trips: the El Rey ruins are 2 km away, downtown Cancun is about 22 km, and Chichen Itza, Tulum, Xcaret and Isla Mujeres are all sold at the tour desk.
