Park Royal Beach Cancun is the chain's 4-star, 310-room hotel at Boulevard Kukulcan km 12.5, and the first thing to clear up is that it is not the same hotel as Grand Park Royal Cancun and was never renamed from it. Park Royal sells both at once, as separate products on separate pages, along with the adults-only Royal Select inside the Grand. A lot of the information floating around online mixes the two, which matters because the room types, the room counts and the renovation news are all different. What this hotel has is a strip of fine-sand hotel-zone beach, the Yamil Lu'um Mayan ruins sitting on the sea right beside it with direct access from the property, separate adults and family pools near the sand, and a rooftop sky bar on the Luna Pyramid that looks over the Nichupte lagoon on one side and the Caribbean on the other.

Is Park Royal Beach Cancun the same as Grand Park Royal Cancun?

No, and it never was. They are two separate hotels that Park Royal sells side by side, and Park Royal Beach Cancun was not renamed from the Grand. This one has 310 rooms at Kukulcan km 12.5; the Grand is a different, larger property with its own page, its own room types including swim-up rooms, and the adults-only Royal Select section inside it. If a review mentions swim-up rooms or a brand new infinity main pool, it is describing the Grand, not this hotel.

How is the beach?

Good, and it is one of the reasons people come back. It is a hotel-zone beach on the Caribbean side at km 12.5 with the fine, pale sand Cancun is known for, and guests consistently single out the sand quality. Beach volleyball and beach massages are run from it. The Yamil Lu'um Mayan ruins sit on the sea immediately beside the resort and you can walk to them directly, which is a genuinely unusual thing to have at the end of your beach.
