Hacienda del Mar Los Cabos is a colonial-style hacienda on 11 acres inside Cabo del Sol, facing the Sea of Cortez, and since July 1 2025 it has run as Marriott Bonvoy's first all-inclusive in Los Cabos. The depth of facilities is the draw: the Cactus Spa, five pools, a kids club, golf next door and a long list of restaurants and bars, all in a property with real architectural character rather than a cookie-cutter resort block. The 270 rooms and suites were reworked for the relaunch with new furniture, walk-in showers and fresh finishes, and Bonvoy members can earn and redeem points, which loyal members weigh heavily.
The food draws the most divided reactions. When it is on, guests describe a range that clearly outclasses standard all-inclusive fare: Pitahayas for contemporary Mexican, Tahona for tacos on house-made tortillas, the Tortugas Beach Club cevicheria, La Terraza del Santo sushi, Trattoria Pomodoro, and the Tomates buffet. When it misses, the gap between the room rate and the execution shows, and the surcharge at De Cortez grill house catches some people out. Know the beach situation before you book: this is not a swim-in-the-ocean resort. The surf here is strong enough that a black flag flies and guests are kept out of the water, so the five pools, the hot tubs and the Delfines swim-up bar are where the water time happens.
Hacienda del Mar makes the most sense for travelers who need several things at once that few Cabo all-inclusives combine: families with kids, golfers who still want a full resort, couples who want a serious spa and an adults-only pool, and Bonvoy members using points. It sits above the big Riu and Barcelo resorts in character and facilities and well below the ultra-luxury properties such as the Waldorf Astoria, which are not all-inclusive. From here the concierge books whale watching in winter, sportfishing, snorkeling at Chileno Beach or Cabo Pulmo, ATV and zip-line tours, and sunset sails to the Arch. If a swimmable beach is the priority, look elsewhere.
Pros
- +Cactus Spa is a genuine highlight rather than a token amenity, with temazcal rituals, volcanic stone massages and treatments built on Mexican botanicals in an oceanfront setting
- +Five pools with separate family and adults-only areas, several hot tubs, a sea-view infinity pool and the Delfines swim-up bar, so couples and families each get their own space
- +Real dining range for an all-inclusive: Pitahayas for Mexican fine dining, Tahona's house-made tortillas, Tortugas Beach Club cevicheria, La Terraza del Santo sushi bar, Trattoria Pomodoro and the Tomates buffet, plus a tequila bar with live music
- +Sits inside Cabo del Sol next to its Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf courses, and the concierge books tee times at Palmilla, Quivira, Puerto Los Cabos and Club Campestre
- +Kids club with supervised activities, a snack bar by the kids' pool and a daily program of yoga, cooking classes and Frida Kahlo-inspired art classes make it workable for families
- +Rooms were refreshed for the July 2025 all-inclusive relaunch with new furniture, walk-in showers and new finishes, and guests describe them as large and good value
- +Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and redeem points here, which is still unusual among Los Cabos all-inclusives
- +Whale watching from the pool deck in winter, and sea turtle releases from August to December during nesting season
Cons
- −You cannot swim in the sea here: the surf on this stretch of the Sea of Cortez is dangerous, a black flag flies and lifeguards keep guests out of the water, so the beach is for walking, not swimming
- −Not everything is in the package: De Cortez grill house carries a surcharge and the ice cream shop is outside the plan, and some guests report confusion over what lands on the folio
- −Pool and beach loungers run short in busy weeks, and guests describe early-morning chair claiming
- −Value is a recurring debate: it is a beautiful property, but guests who pay top Cabo rates sometimes find food and drink execution uneven
- −Families and couples share the property, so the atmosphere shifts noticeably depending on whether it is a school-holiday week
- −The all-inclusive program only launched in July 2025, and guests in the early months reported service and food inconsistencies while it settled in
- −Cabo San Lucas marina, Medano Beach and the nightlife strip are a taxi ride down the corridor, not a walk
