Thirteen pools threaded through a Venetian-style canal layout, a 45,000 square foot casino with a real poker room, a 26-slide water park, an 18-hole Nicklaus-designed course next door, six bowling lanes, a FlowRider and a two-level nightclub make it less a hotel than a small city on Bavaro Beach. The vibe is energetic and unapologetically loud, and the property is big enough that honeymooners, multigenerational family reunions and bachelor parties rarely cross paths.

Mini golf, the arcade and the VR room are also priced at the Vacation Planner desk

This resort is best for groups and families who want options and don't mind walking for them. If you want a quiet, intimate couples retreat, look elsewhere; if you want a week where all fifteen people in your party find something they love, from the poker room to the kids club to the spa to the 4am dance floor, few places in the Caribbean compete. On price it sits in the upper-middle of Punta Cana, under Secrets Cap Cana and Excellence on food and service polish but well ahead of anything else on activity count, and ahead of the Riu and Bahia Principe tier on both. Budget realistically: the base rate covers a good vacation, and the resort credit plus a few ticketed extras is what turns it into the one in the brochure. Cana Bay golf, Macao Beach surf lessons and the Punta Cana catamaran and buggy circuit are all within easy reach for days off property.

How does the resort credit really work?

It is a booking promotion rather than a standing resort feature, so it depends entirely on what rate you book and when. The published October 2026 version gives $200 of credit per night up to six nights ($1,200), then makes it unlimited at seven nights, capped in the small print at up to $2,800. It applies only to Rock Spa treatments, basic Posh Beauty Salon services, select tours, and golf green fees and shared carts. It does not cover dining, the Rock Shop, equipment rental or signature spa and salon services, a 35 percent service fee is added to anything you book with it, and it is new-reservations-only with travel before 16 December 2026. Is the water park included, and is it good for small kids?

Rockaway Bay is included in your stay, no wristband upcharge. It has 26 slides divided by age (9 high-speed for teens and adults, 8 scaled for little ones, 9 in between), a wave pool, a family pool, wet and dry bars and a food truck area, and runs 10am to 6pm. Minors must be supervised throughout. Separately, three of the resort's pools are kids pools with flume slides, and the kids slide tower by the main kids pool is limited to guests 15 and under with a height range of roughly 43 to 63 inches.

Is the Rock Royalty upgrade worth it?

Set your expectations by what it actually includes rather than by butler-service talk. Rock Royalty Level gives you a dedicated telephone concierge, full-size Rock Spa bath products, a pillow and aromatherapy menu, one complimentary 25-minute couples massage at the spa, late check-out to 3pm subject to availability, robes and slippers, an espresso machine, a beach bag, and priority access to the guitar and turntable loan programs. Bali bed booking is prioritized but still costs extra. If you want someone actually assigned to you, that comes with the Rock Suite categories, which have been including a Personal Assistant from 7am to 11pm.

How bad is the timeshare pressure?

Real but survivable. Expect an approach at check-in and sometimes poolside, framed as a VIP breakfast, a tour or a resort orientation. A firm no, repeated once, ends it. If you accept in exchange for a gift or credit, plan on losing three to four hours to a hard sell.
