Occidental Caribe is the budget end of Punta Cana beachfront done at scale: 798 rooms on the sand at Arena Gorda, a Blue Flag beach, seven restaurants and seven to eight bars, and rates that Barcelo was publishing direct from the mid $140s a night in October 2026. It is a four-star property that Barcelo introduces as the former Barcelo Punta Cana, Mediterranean in style rather than themed, and it has not had an announced renovation in the last three years. What it has instead is a very good piece of coastline, an unusually warm staff and a reputation for being loud. The party energy is the first thing anyone mentions, and it genuinely either fits your trip or ruins it.
