Travelers who care most about food should compare Ocean Blue and Sand or Barcelo Bavaro, and couples who want calmer, more attentive service should look at the adults-only Catalonia Royal Bavaro next door or Royalton Punta Cana. Off property, the tour desk sells the usual Dominican day trips, with La Hacienda Park, the basilica at Higuey and Santo Domingo's colonial fortress all doable in a day.
