Argentine travel press in June 2026 described Miches beaches as much cleaner during sargassum season, while a Dominican assessment the same month put the Miches-El Seibo coast in its very-high-risk band alongside Punta Cana. No 2026 report found here documents an actual mass landing at Playa Esmeralda or Costa Esmeralda.
•This is a small, still-developing resort area with a handful of large properties (Club Med, Viva, Temptation and others) and almost no public beach infrastructure, so cleanup depends on each resort's own crew.
•Miches is roughly 90 minutes by road from Punta Cana airport; if Punta Cana is having a bad week, it is one of the few nearby alternatives with a meaningfully different exposure.
